That’s right. Who played rock band all weekend on expert? Oh yeah, us. Ok, so it was the easy songs, and we were both clawing our way through, but dang it! We totally got through the first three tiers. We shall conveniently overlook the fact that expert drums are about a light year harder than expert guitar, and that Harry can play expert guitar as well, and get through more or less everything in the game. We shall ignore this because I am striving valiantly against pettiness. I continue to enjoy Rock Band because unlike Guitar Hero 2, where I hit a plateau and couldn’t do anything else, I can see myself getting better over the course of a session playing. However, I am also a classically trained musician (horribly, hopelessly out of shape, but trained once upon a time none the less) and I can feel guilt twinging at me, I can see my bad habits forming, the places where I fake it, the skills I don’t have and how I compensate for them. The OCD, practiced 6 hours a day part of me feels like I’m cheating if I don’t Learn how to play this silly “instrument”. It’s hard to let go of perfection and just have fun.

Speaking of letting go of perfection, this is a nice segue to LOTRO. I.. like it. Enough. It’s not great, my machine hates it, and I have to play it on Low or (shudder) Very Low graphics, which sucks. Trees materialize out of thin air six inches in front of my face, mobs load after I’ve run past them. Bletch. But, it has quests. I like quests. And these quests? I have not done them before. Unlike a certain other MMO wherein I have played the 0-30 bracket oh, a dozen times now? 30-50 another 6 or s0, 50-60 3ish and 60-70 twice.  So, I <3 new content, even when it’s fraught with things that annoy me and look like crap.

Also, Wednesday morning is a little late to be posting a weekend recap, but to hell with that, I say! Better late than never. See also: cards I have not yet sent for valentines day and the birthday present for my friend who’s birthday was in the beginning of March. Huzzah.
